“Holiday Chaos: New Jobs, Vegas, Sick Kids, and Cannabis to the Rescue”
The holidays are always busy, but this year, they’ve been a full-blown hurricane of life. Between transitioning out of one job and into a new one, Thanksgiving, a whirlwind trip to Vegas for MJBizCon, and then back-to-back sick kids (plus getting sick myself), I’m just over here wondering how I’m still standing. Spoiler: cannabis played a big role in keeping my head on straight.
Let’s rewind a bit.
This all started in November when I officially closed the chapter on my old job and began transitioning into my new role. Exciting? Absolutely. Stressful? Oh, 100%. I wanted to give the new job everything I had while also wrapping up the old one in a way that felt true to me. Then, just as I was settling in, Thanksgiving came rolling around with its usual chaos of cooking, hosting, and wrangling kids hopped up on pumpkin pie.
Two weeks later, it was time for MJBizCon in Vegas. For anyone who hasn’t been, MJBizCon is a wild ride. Picture tens of thousands of people from the cannabis industry packed into convention halls, all hustling, networking, and celebrating this plant we love. It’s inspiring, overwhelming, and exhausting all at once.
I made incredible connections, learned so much, and felt completely re-energized about this industry. But let’s be real—traveling during the holidays, while juggling work and family responsibilities, is a lot. This is where cannabis stepped in like the MVP it is. Whether it was microdosing an edible to stay calm during a long flight or taking a hit of a relaxing strain to unwind after a day of back-to-back meetings and events, cannabis was my sanity saver.
Then I came home. Cue the sick kid parade.
One kid got sick, then the other, and just as I thought we were in the clear, I got hit with whatever bug they’d been sharing. Between the fevers, coughs, and middle-of-the-night wakeups, any attempt to blog, rest, or even think clearly went right out the window. Add in the usual holiday madness, and it felt like I was barely treading water.
But here’s the thing: even in the chaos, I’m grateful. Grateful for the opportunity to step into a new role that excites me, for the chance to connect with so many inspiring people in Vegas, and yes, for cannabis. It’s the thing that helps me stay calm when life is anything but. It’s the moment of peace I carve out for myself when everything else feels overwhelming.
Life is messy, especially during the holidays. But that’s the beauty of it, right? We’re all just trying to do our best, whether that’s showing up for our kids, navigating new careers, or making it through a 5-day work trip without losing our minds. And if cannabis helps me keep my cool and stay grounded through it all, you better believe I’m going to celebrate that.
So here’s to all the parents, hustlers, and holiday survivors out there. You’re not alone. Life might be chaotic, but we’re making it work. One day, one joint, and one deep breath at a time.
