When I was in Vegas I had the amazing opportunity to reconnect with the GPen Family! After some chatting they told me to reach out to them when I got back to Missouri, so I did! I was so excited, they wasted no time getting me the GPen Hyer to begin our blogging relationship.
The Hyer was delivered on a Friday and I could not wait to tear open the packaging and see what the device was all about. I am who I am though so as I opened and examined the device I also decided to film a reel. I decided to find the perfect concentrate to hit out of this magical device and my friend Theresa who works for Mo’Dank put me on to the Moxie Strawberries and Cream. I knew right away that it was the winner and the next day I got everything all set up to film me figuring out the Hyer.
The device is a sturdy device that comes with a protective case and instructions, as I got the device all set up and attempted my first dab I kept recieving an error code. I was so confused because the design is so user friendly, how could I possibly not figure this out. I decided to pull up youtube and see if there was a troubleshooting video and was pleasantly surprised to find one right away. After checking all of my connection ports, I realized that one of them was not 100% secure and once I adjusted it and heard the click, it was go time.
To turn on the device you hold down the largest of the three buttons until it powers on, from there you will find that there is a plethora of ways to customize your dab session. If you hold down both the arrows at the same time you are able to customize the length of the session, you will find a guide in your case to tell you what all of the different settings mean. These settings also change depending on if you have the dry herb attachment on or the concentrate attachment on. Once you have set the length of your session you need to choose between one of the 5 different heat settings, feeling adventurous I decided to go balls to the wall. I did the highest heat on the longest time setting to really see what this thing was made of.
I could say this is where the story ends, because I most definitely underestimated this thing. After having struggled for a moment to figure out why it wasn’t working, I had loaded an overly generous dab thinking that the Hyer was just an expensive contraption that was quite difficult to work with. That was pre youtube video, post youtube video and after setting the session to the most aggresive session. Pressing the larger button twice, I began my session, when it stopped blinking I went in for the kill, I took the largest, tastiest dab of my life, and then I died.
After losing a lung, I realized I had made a GRAVE error, you see, maybe I should have saved this experiment for an evening, not for the daytime. I walked over to my bed, chugging a bottle of water, tears streaming down my face, and I laid down. I felt amazing, I felt as if my body had no pain, no fears, no worries, I felt like I could have a deep and healing sleep. It was however the middle of the day and I had to be a productive adult. After 10 minutes I got up and dosed myself with a decent amount of CBD, showered, and got myself ready to go.
In the days that followed I played around with the settings and figured out what the best daytime dosing was for me. I have also been able to use it and not take any sleeping aids for the last few weeks. I dislike torches, I have one, but I much prefer this and my traveling rig. I especially like the amount of customizations with the Hyer, this allows me to take a cool yet effective dab, not burning off the terpenes and maximizing the flavor profile of each hit.
While I have only tried the concentrate attachment at this point, part two of the blog will go more in depth about the specs of the Hyer and the price point. I will break down from head to toe what you are getting and why it is a quality piece of equipment. I am so excited that this was my first experince with GPen, I cant help but chuckle at how silly I must have looked trying to figure this out and then laying myself out with a dab. I am so glad that the first time I tried a Moxie concentrate was out of the Hyer as well, it did not disapoint.
